What is Twitter?

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send "updates" (or "tweets"; text-based posts, up to 140 characters long) to the Twitter web site, via the Twitter web site, short message service (SMS), instant messaging, or a third-party application such as Twitterrific or Facebook.

Once you sign up for an account at www.twitter.com you can send updates to your friends via Twitter. Fingertips now contains a built-in Twitter client that makes it real easy to send these updates.

How to use Twitter from Fingertips?

The new Fingertips command 'tw' contains the basic configuration for sending Twitter updates.

The easiest way to use Twitter from Fingertips would be to:

1.Type tw in the Fingertips command window to select the new 'Twit' command
2.Press Alt+E to edit the configuration for the 'tw' command
3.Specify your Twitter username in the 'Username' field
4.Specify your Twitter password in the 'Password' field
5.Leave the 'What are you doing?' field to {1}
6.Press the OK button
7.Type tw this is a testmessage in the Fingertips command window and press Enter to post the message to Twitter

Note: One issue with using Twitter from Fingertips is that Fingertips by default uses the comma (,) to separate parameters. If you want to use a comma in a Tweet, you can choose another parameter delimiter in the Options Dialog on the Miscellaneous tab.
